For tricycle owners, selecting the right lithium battery can be tricky. Whether it’s a “wild” tricycle used for daily commuting or cargo transport, the battery’s performance directly impacts efficiency. Beyond the battery type, one component often overlooked is the Battery Management System (BMS) — a critical factor in safety, longevity, and performance.
First, range is a top concern. Tricycles have more space for larger batteries, but temperature differences between northern and southern regions affect range significantly. In cold climates (below -10°C), lithium-ion batteries (like NCM) retain better performance, while in mild areas, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are more stable.
However, no lithium battery performs well without a quality BMS. A reliable BMS monitors voltage, current, and temperature in real-time, preventing overcharging, over-discharging, and short circuits.
